Families who qualify include those who receive the following:

Your child is eligible for the scheme throughout the entire calendar year. Regardless of whether your child is turning 2 or 18 during the year, they will still be eligible for the full year. If your family stops receiving government benefits, your child is still entitled to the Child Benefit Scheme, as long as you received government funding for some part of the year.

Will all Dentists accept Child Dental Benefits Schedule patients?

At all My Dental Health locations, we accept patients under the Child Benefits Schedule. You can visit us at Martin Place Dental Health, Pyrmont Dental Health, and Sydney Dental Health. However, not all dentists can see patients under the scheme.

Dentists or Dental Specialists in either the public or private sectors, must hold general or specialist registration as a certified dentist with the Dental Board of Australia. In addition, they must hold a Medicare provider number to qualify and offer services to Child Dental Benefits Schedule patients.

At My Dental Health, we can check patient eligibility by contacting the Department of Human Services for you. We can also determine whether your child has any remaining benefits’ balance at each appointment.

Can I use my private health insurance in conjunction with the initiative?

Unfortunately, patients with private health insurance are unable to claim benefits from both their health fund and the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for the same treatment. However, you can still use private health insurance for other services not covered by the initiative.
